computers, injury

Ouch Ouch Ouch-old tower computers are good for something

Somehow, I twisted my knee. How someone who doesn’t walk does that I don’t know. A pain in the butt I understand. The human body did not evolve to sit eighteen hours a day. About once a month I need to spend a couple of days in bed with my weight off it. But a twisted knee????

Ouch lowrezLuckily, I just moved an old tower computer where it makes a perfect foot rest. The only thing that eases the pain is to keep my foot elevated.

I’ve learned that I need to be able to access a computer. No computer means withdrawal symptoms for me. I get very irritable, more shaky than usual, and can’t sleep. It’s like I’m coming off some drug.

Looks like lots of playing with that Head Mounted Display (HMD) I got Tuesday. There is a Golf game that looks very interesting. I’ll post about it in a few days.

Opps forgot mention Kitely and Inworldz

I forgot to add Willow is also in the virtual worlds of Kitely and Inworldz. I’m not in those worlds as much as Second Life.

While Kitely is technically interesting and may be the future of virtual worlds it is a little too “geeky” for me. I spent a couple of decades working professionally with computer systems and I don’t want to spend my time trying to figure out how something technically works. I’m also not fond of the its every sim is its own world data setup that is only loaded when someone accesses it.

The Inworldz world is almost the same as Second Life but without the exorbitant land prices.

In my opinion Kitely and Inworldz are hindered by not having enough population. Since I’m in virtual for social reasons so that is a problem.

Since Sansar may eventually supplant Second Life; I know LL says it won’t but with the haphazard way they do thing who really knows. So, it may be a good idea to keep your options open if it doesn’t cost too much.

Second Life is fun again

Cropped Willow #1In the last few years Second Life (SL) hasn’t been very as interesting as it was in 2005 through 2007. Back then I was excited to get in world and see what was happening as soon as I got up but since then it has become sort of dull. I even took a “vacation” from SL for almost two years with my activity cut back to being in world a couple hours a month. That was somewhat different than 160 hours a month.

I tried to become interested again in the middle of 2014. For about a year that worked but the interest flagged again. In my opinion SL itself was beginning to die so I started to look at alternatives. BTW I didn’t find a good one.

Then in the middle of January of 2017 I found something in SL itself. I looked at the videos of Strawberry Singh about mesh bodies and heads and saw the technology has advanced enough to be interesting. I’ve found something that makes me excited to get in world in the mornings. SL is fun again.

Chanel's Closet #2As usual I didn’t start something new in a small way. My inventory has grown by over four thousand in just a few weeks.

I tried mesh bodies and heads in 2014 but gave up on them since they were too complicated to use and I was in SL to have fun and relax. I’ve seen lots of complaints about how mesh clothing means your old inventory of non-mesh clothes is almost unusable. With some exceptions that isn’t true. It’s just that dress that looked so good in 2007 doesn’t look so good now. Replacing it is a perfect solution for a shopaholic!
