Couldn’t pull the plug

Not pull the plugA good Second Life (SL) friend of mine for over a decade suddenly disappeared a few weeks ago. She was the next to last person I helped get started in SL in 2005. I ask a mutual friend and she did what I almost did a year ago.

RL was getting busy so I was going to quit SL. After we got rid of all our land we were going to quit SL. So we got rid of our land but then it dawned on us. It was worth $75 a year just to keep our identity, friends, and inventory! We couldn’t pull the plug.

Over the years I’ve made too many good friends and had fun. I’ll probably be in SL till they turn the lights off.

Second Life is fun again

Cropped Willow #1In the last few years Second Life (SL) hasn’t been very as interesting as it was in 2005 through 2007. Back then I was excited to get in world and see what was happening as soon as I got up but since then it has become sort of dull. I even took a “vacation” from SL for almost two years with my activity cut back to being in world a couple hours a month. That was somewhat different than 160 hours a month.

I tried to become interested again in the middle of 2014. For about a year that worked but the interest flagged again. In my opinion SL itself was beginning to die so I started to look at alternatives. BTW I didn’t find a good one.

Then in the middle of January of 2017 I found something in SL itself. I looked at the videos of Strawberry Singh about mesh bodies and heads and saw the technology has advanced enough to be interesting. I’ve found something that makes me excited to get in world in the mornings. SL is fun again.

Chanel's Closet #2As usual I didn’t start something new in a small way. My inventory has grown by over four thousand in just a few weeks.

I tried mesh bodies and heads in 2014 but gave up on them since they were too complicated to use and I was in SL to have fun and relax. I’ve seen lots of complaints about how mesh clothing means your old inventory of non-mesh clothes is almost unusable. With some exceptions that isn’t true. It’s just that dress that looked so good in 2007 doesn’t look so good now. Replacing it is a perfect solution for a shopaholic!
